Lorca dedicated a garden carver Antonio Soriano (10/03/2014)

It is an enclave located in the neighborhood of Sam Lazarus, area in which the artist lived since coming to town in 1912.

He also did work as Christ candelabra Rescue and the second body of Christ Throne of Blood.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, inaugurated this morning the garden carver Antonio Soriano Molina, located in the district of San Lazaro, in memory of multidisciplinary artist and resident of the area.

Soriano Molina, born in the town of Blanca in 1912, moved to Lorca in 1943, residing in the neighborhood of San Lazaro until his death in 1961.

He lavished successfully as sculptor, carpenter, musician and carver.

In Lorca was active as engraver, bequeathing major integrated into the cultural heritage of the town works and works for Easter.

Among his most important works we can review:

4 chandeliers for Christ Rescue (1953).

Medallions of the fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary for the throne of the Virgin of Bitterness (1947).

Second body of Christ Holy Throne of Blood (1956).

The Mayor explained that the City Council of Lorca have always thought that it is essential to honor those who throughout his life leave his mark, his memory and his legacy in this city.

So with the carver Antonio Soriano, who through their good craftsman and art bequeathed to future generations a number of beautiful works of great quality and value.

It was a great carver, but is remembered today as a great person, a great neighbor, a man of amiable character and was always to help with whatever was needed.

The mayor congratulated the Molina Soriano family, especially his children and grandchildren who inherited the artistic talents of Antonio either through modeling or through music.

The name of this enclave of San Lázaro agreement fulfills the Municipal Council for the month of June 2009, where a proposal from the Mayor of the District, Isabel Navarro Soto, and the neighbors, was approved unanimously by the municipal groups nominate this garden as "carver Antonio Soriano Molina", as a tribute to this artist who lived just remembered this place.
