The Councillor of Health of the City of Lorca, Antonio Lopez, and the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Lorca, Magdalena Lopez, have reported that between 9:30 and 13:30 pm today both entities have installed, for the Day No Snuff, two fact tables, one in the Mall of the Constitution and one at the entrance to the weekly market on Thursday, with the aim to raise awareness of the harmful effects of snuff, for what brochures on smoking will be distributed and cancer.

If current patterns of smoking, snuff consumption will cause some 10 million deaths per year by 2020. Half the people that smoke today, or about 650 million people will die of snuff.

Antonia Lopez explained that "25% of the population of the Region of Murcia is daily smoking compared to 24% nationwide, plus occasional smoker is 5.9 compared to 3% of the national average.
