La Casa Sefarad-Israel in Madrid hosts Wednesday June 11 presentation of contemporary culture festival JEWISH LORCA 2014 (08/06/2014)

Archaeological findings from the Jewish quarter and synagogue lorquina fifteenth century inside the walled castle of Lorca and the work done to allow the visit to these exceptional remnants of Jewish culture have positioned Lorca as one of the premier history and historical Jewish culture in Spain.

The next day, June 11th at 12:00 h present in Casa Sefarad-Israel in Madrid the second edition of the Festival of Jewish Culture in Contemporary Lorca, "Jewish Lorca", and reinforces this new condition that Lorca has gained as a place knowledge and reflection on a culture that has had a key influence in history and today remains one of the important cultural orientations of the contemporary world.

A good example of the tourist reception given to the enhancement made in the Jewish quarter and synagogue Lorca is the number of visits to this space in the Fortaleza del Sol when it fulfills the second year of operation, in which Jewry and synagogue have had 33,600 visitors, with an average of over 1,400 visits per month.

It is precisely the interest shown by the findings in the castle of Lorca which reinforces our decision to enhance the visit to the castle as a platform for cultural and tourist dissemination of Jewish Lorca.

With this overall objective, we intend to launch the second edition of this festival, "Jewish Lorca", besides the success of the first edition is to provide a new alternative for leisure and culture and boost the spread of what Lorca posed to the historical, cultural and tourist knowledge of the Jewish world.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, the Minister of Culture of the CARM, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, Minister of Culture of the Embassy of Israel, Ahuva Spieler, artistic director, Miguel Tebar and representatives of Casa Sefarad-Israel in Madrid presented the new in this second edition to be held in Lorca from 17 to 21 June 2014. Music, films, guided tours, children's activities and food, will among other proposals for this second edition commitment to quality and creativity in its various styles, in an encounter between cultures and between the historical moment and the present moment.

Confident that "Jewish Lorca" 2014 involving not only an excellent proposal for cultural entertainment on pleasant nights of Lorca, but also to help strengthen the conocomiento, understanding and multicultural ties with a culture, Sephardic, the both must.
