The Department of Development promotes the participation of neighborhood residents of San Jose de Lorca in urban redevelopment project (14/06/2014)

Alternative routes will be enabled to have access to facilities that require special conditions of mobility, and special loading and unloading areas

The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Planning, through the Department of Architecture, Housing and Land, in coordination with the City of Lorca, was the collaboration of neighbors of San José de Lorca in the project urban renewal district, which starts later this month.

The general director of Architecture, Housing and Land, Yolanda Muñoz, accompanied by the mayor of this town, Francisco Jodar provided to neighbors, among them traders Street Pérez Casas, the implementation program of urban renewal works planned for the neighborhood of San Jose, with special emphasis on their own business and business arrangements.

The meeting, held in Lorca, the timeframe, which will cut traffic and occupations of the driveway and parking during the approximate period of three months of implementation was coordinated.

Muñoz said that "there is an agreement with neighbors and merchants in the area, who have been able to see first hand the baseline plan, which ensures pedestrian access at all times during the development of the works."

Thus, explained that residents can be accessed from the Pérez Casas and Nogalte Glorieta Street in the neighborhood of San Jose and its establishments.

In this sense, it is planned to enable alternative routes to access centers requiring special conditions of mobility, special loading and unloading areas, while the entry of emergency vehicles will be ensured.

"It's about making support urban regeneration with social and commercial activity," said Muñoz, who stressed the "enormous importance of economic activity in this part of town, so we have shown a special sensitivity when mitigate the potential harm that may arise with the works. "

Neighborhood regeneration

The three main lines of action of the regeneration of the district are renovating Pérez Casas, rearranging the square of San Jose and the construction of a large storm drain.

The objective of this action is to promote accessibility, allow connection between neighborhoods and boosting energy efficiency and sustainability.

The work also will include the renovation of roads, expansion of public and educational spaces, and the creation of green areas.

The contract, whose regional investment totaling 3.6 million euros, includes as a special social status for employment promotion the requirement that the contractor incorporates, at a minimum, 25 percent of workers under 30 years.
