For the fifth consecutive year, the second largest town of Spain became the seat of a professional analysis about the renewal of the sector, focusing on the application of new technologies, the Leader funds, the use of private forests and their integration with tourism of sun and beach.

The Councillor for Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, and Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Murcia and member of the Centre for Rural Development and Local, Francisco Carreño, who is also director of the conference, presented this morning the VIII Regional Conference on Rural Tourism to be held from Wednesday 18 to Friday 20 June in Lorca, from 17.00 to 20.00 h.

Montiel explained that "specifically, the conference will be held in the hall of the shoulder cistern Lorca Castle so that participants can learn about the Fortaleza del Sol, the new Parador de Turismo of Lorca and the archaeological and Jewish Quarter of the city ".

This edition, which will focus on the application of new technologies, Leader funding, the use of private forests and their integration with the sun and beach tourism, will meet in Lorca interested in the subject, professional and technical administrations region and councilors of local pioneers in rural tourism.

As usual, and thanks to the collaboration of sponsors like Etnotur and Designation of Origin Bullas, the conference will close with a wine tasting and local products as the finale.

These workshops are promoted by the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Murcia in collaboration with the Centre for Rural and Local Development and the City of Lorca.
