A study of traffic in Lorca analyzes gauging stations in the main districts of the city (23/08/2014)

The report shall contain the main strategic elements Lorca intervention to improve circulation in the neighborhoods, especially in the Vineyard, San Jose, San Diego and Alfonso X

A traffic study in Lorca analyzes the capacity of vehicles in those areas of the city and channel that allow vehicle movements inside and outside the urban continuum of Lorca.

The report, sponsored by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Planning, through the Department of Architecture, Housing and Land, unlike the road network running through the city, first and second level, the local network and the pedestrian zone of the old town.

This is to assess the flows of vehicles on the main thoroughfares of the city and the sizing of hits (links and intersections) of roads, especially in the districts of La Viña, San Jose, Alfonso X and San Diego.

In that sense, they will present the magnitudes of traffic flowing through the city, becoming a useful tool to propose solutions to the identified problems or those that can be expected in both the short and long term.

In the framework of this study, the issues presented by parking vehicles in Lorca, differentiating between residents and casual users to perform administrative activities, tourism and leisure is analyzed.

In addition, the diagnosis of road infrastructure in Lorca determine how mobility affects the partial pedestrianization of the neighborhoods most affected by the earthquakes of May 2011, and propose new routes for motorized traffic.

Future road infrastructure

With the data collected during the study will be undertaken in the management of traffic systems, redesigning intersections and traffic signal optimization, expansion of the parking area and provision of controlled pedestrian areas and routes cyclists.

This is the future road infrastructure enhances bypass routes that avoid passing through the main axes of the town and provide accessibility to neighborhoods.

The final document will include basic information for socio-economic and urban type and the specific traffic, with focus on motorized mobility.

Also, the existing road network will be characterized and an inventory of the supply of public transport and parking, in order to carry out proper zoning for further analysis will be done.
