The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Planning earmarked 250,000 euros to Lorca Mobility Plan, which "will optimize the reconstruction of streets, pedestrian environments and spaces for transport infrastructure," according to the director Manuel Campos.

Campos said the Mobility Plan "includes a series of measures aimed at the implementation of more sustainable forms of travel, especially focusing on those neighborhoods that have been most affected by the earthquake."

In this line of work, the Ministry has already drafted the bidding of this project, which includes the implementation of a platform 'Smart Movility' (Intelligent Transport Systems), designed to achieve better local accessibility and availability of systems sustainable, innovative and safe transport, applying information technologies.

The project will occur in two phases, analysis and diagnostics, and other strategic adjusted to the actual situation of the city and led to the implementation of corrective measures identified problems.

The works also include the multimodal transport and the need to generate adequate evacuation plan in case of another disaster in the city.

Areas of action

The Lorca Mobility Plan covers 12 areas: circulation and structure of the road network, parking, public transport enhancement, improvement of urban public space and citizen management and mobility and accessibility and multimodality removal of barriers.
