UPCT encourage their students to be the new cultural volunteers Bethlehem Lorca Museum, which will open in December in exchange for training credits (30/10/2014)

By which will recognize the hours of dedication of the students in this new attraction Lorca, which can be enjoyed in the Hermitage of San Roque thanks to an agreement with the City of Lorca

The Rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, José Antonio Franco, has signed an agreement with the Association of Lorca Belenista to encourage students to collaborate and cultural volunteers at the new Museum of Bethlehem Sun City, which will open to public December in the Chapel of San Roque and San Sebastián with the cooperation of the City of Lorca.

Under the agreement, UPCT cover liability insurance for students participating in this activity and recognize the hours undertaken by students in this new lorquino attraction with free credits or ECTS through the volunteer service of vice students, where those interested can register and can do this activity in lieu of other activities as an elective.

The roles of volunteers help pursue the implementation and promotion of the Bethlehem Museum of Lorca, with actions such as promotion, management, receiving and making visits accounted for individuals and groups;

the opening and closing of the museum, care for their conservation, maintenance and monitoring visits, as well as the organization and collaboration in the design and implementation of dynamic activities of the museum and its surroundings along with other association (cultural tours, artisans and coordination with other associations or museums, workshops, conferences, competitions, concerts, Bethlehem City, themed markets, ...).

Students may also contribute to the design and implementation of educational activities for schools, the development of a scanned piece of the Museum and the Association registration, or collaboration in the documentation, design and implementation of the next Bethlehem City, plus the following phases of the museum.

This agreement demonstrates the will of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena to return to the Region of Murcia in very different ways than it receives from it, while adds a new initiative to launch and support society Lorca.

During the past year the Association Belenista Lorca has said temple fully musealized sixteenth century, the oldest of which can be visited in this city, with the support of the Department of Local Development of the municipality.

When this new attraction opens its doors may provide three monumental cribs made by belenistas teachers of this group year after year for the Bethlehem Municipal Lorca alongside figures donated by artisans from the region and 15 nativity scenes made scale 30 centimeters exclusively by sculptor Ramon Levantine Basin.

Visitors can also enjoy the paintings of the Nativity passages contained in the walls of the monument that houses the museum and the environment of this shrine, located in a privileged view of the city from which you can see on one side the castle and the church of St. Peter and the other hermitages of Mount Calvaro and all the historic center with its monuments from above, from a point located just 5 minutes walk from Loch Street, the main pedestrian street of the city.

President belenistas Lorca, Miguel Navarrete, thanked the cooperation UPCT and hopes that this agreement will serve to engage the university community, and especially the residents of the Valley Guadalentin in this group.
