Tragamóvil planted 3,000 trees on four acres of high ecological value in Lorca (19/11/2014)

This action has been launched in Lorca Spain in collaboration with WWF, the Directorate General Environment of the Region of Murcia, and the city of Lorca.

The aim of the initiative is to promote the collection of unused mobile phones for recycling, thus contributing to the forests in four acres of important biological value on Mount The Arbutus and AlhagĂźeces.

The Tragamóvil founding principal driving from "1 x 1 cell tree", leading the separate collection and recycling of mobile phones in our country.

To encourage the cooperation of the people of Lorca, Tragamóvil plant a tree in the forest The Arbutus and AlhagĂźeces for each of the devices removed.

The goal of "one tree x 1 mobile" is to collect 3,000 phones into disuse until December 9th.

To this end, the foundation has approached the collection points to Lorca, installing a total of 26 collectors Tragamóvil in municipal spaces, businesses and enabled the waste removal areas.

Moreover, the collection through Tragamóvil promote an awareness campaign and mobilization.

This includes the use of advertising media such as radio or abroad, communication in social networks and share information from multiple computers on the environmental foundation in more than 300 shops and other interesting areas of the municipality.

Once the collection campaign, WWF Spain Tragamóvil and begin reforestation four acres of semiarid land in Mount The Arbutus and AlhagĂźeces.

The recovery plan for this area, formerly under cultivation, projected planting 3,000 trees and native species compatible with the local ecosystem.

Besides preserving the important biological heritage that houses the town of Lorca, this reforestation project will contribute to the creation of an ecological corridor between two areas of great value for the protection of local wildlife, the Regional Park and Park Espuńa Regional Cabo Cope and Calnegre tips.

This is the second reforestation project associated with the mobile phone recycling that takes place Tragamóvil foundation.

The first allowed the forests in three hectares of native forest in two regions of high ecological value of the mountains of Madrid and Segovia in 2013.

Reuse 90% of materials

Tragamóvil, pertaining to environmental platform Recyclia figure in about a year and a half the renewal cycle of mobile phones and 20 million units of these devices that are no longer used annually in our country.

Since its launching in 2011, the foundation has removed more than 4,000 tons of mobile phones and accessories through over 1,000 collection points that have spread throughout Spain.

The foundation also ensures the implementation of the most advanced treatment techniques, to retrieve the highest percentage of raw materials and reduce the environmental impact of hazardous constituents.

In this regard it is noteworthy that, according to a study Tragamóvil, currently 90% of the materials contained in a mobile phone are reused in manufacturing new products.

Specifically, 65% of raw materials recovered are plastic, metals 25% and the remaining 10% unrecoverable substances, such as fiberglass.
