Barnabas says that "the transformation of Lorca reaches a profound reorganization of traffic" (16/01/2015)

The Minister of Development, Public Works and Planning, Francisco Barnabas, accompanied by the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, today announced the findings contained in the Study of City traffic.

This report analyzes the road network, traffic density, the problem offering intersections, the main lines of communication and, in general, the most common problems that arise for urban mobility, while providing battery solutions taken into account in urban regeneration projects of different neighborhoods and areas of the city.

The holder of Development stressed that the report "means a demonstration of the profound transformation that takes place to build the new Lorca, which also extends to the reorganization of traffic and reinforces the character of anticipation with the urban renewal projects being made in the city. "

The study concludes that the main circulatory problem of the city of Lorca is the intensive traffic on the axis of the old N-340a, which crosses the entire city, and proposes solutions such as reducing motorized traffic from the center of Lorca, through the rounds as well as new designs of intersections and sections of streets.

Some actions are already underway in the actions of urban renewal being carried out by the Ministry of Development.

The study has determined the volume of motorized traffic and congestion levels experienced by city streets, in view of which has been carried out the design of certain intersections or streets section for works has already tendered the Ministry in the districts of La Viña, Alfonso X, San Jose and San Diego.

the reorganization of the Glorieta Siphon, Avenida de Europa, and the new section of the road Granada, with the expansion to four lanes, two in each direction, and rearranging intersections and left turns.

In terms of programming and prioritization of rounds and road outside, under the general plan, which should alleviate traffic problems axis of the old N-340a, are provided, interior Ronda Sur, near the boardwalk Tiata, which will be the continuation of the existing South Ronda, the new road connecting uptown Outdoor Round South Beltway, expanding the capacity and improving the road Caravaca and round Northern Bypass.

The Minister Francisco Barnabas recalled that the Traffic Study is a part of the diagnosis included in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the City of Lorca, will achieve a coordinated and efficient use of different modes of transport use, which considers mobility from an Global and analyzing other non-motorized modes of transport and public transport perspective.
