The Carnival of Lorca, to be held on 7, 14, 15 and 21 February, grows to 19 troupes (05/02/2015)

More than 1,500 people parade next February 14, which is almost twice what they did last year, representing the highest growth of this event in years.

The Councillor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, reported that Lorca celebrate the Carnival days 7, 14, 15 and 21 February, with a large increase in the number of extras, rising this year until 19 troupes, as some of them will participate for the first time.

In fact the Carnival Parade on February 14 next what make up more than 1,500 people, which is almost twice as they did last year.

Martinez explained that "Lorca Carnival program will begin this Saturday 7th at 19:00 at the Teatro Guerra with the presentation of the figures of Carnival. The Momo be represented this year by the Ballet of Carmen Franco, the Muse by Association La Viña de San Juan and Queen by the Comparsa de La Torrecilla.

Furthermore, on Saturday February 14 at 18:00 will be the Grand Carnival Parade, which starts in Calle Pérez Casas, down the street Nogalte, Cuesta de San Francisco, Street Prince Alfonso, Oval, Avenida Juan Carlos I to the Palace Garden Ruano.

On Sunday February 15 at 12:00 am Children's Parade will be held from San José, down the street Nogalte, Loch Street, Poplar Street yPlaza of Spain.

It childhood costume contest with prizes for the best costume for baby, best costume girl, best group costume and appointment of Queen Children will be held.

On Saturday February 21 at 19:00 at the Teatro Guerra shall be acting troupes participating in the Carnival of Lorca 2015.

The groups participating in this edition are Ballet Mari Luz Soto, Nursery Anais Colegio Juan Gonzalez Colegio Virgen de las Huertas, Colegio Andrés García Soler, Comparsa Fantasy Barriera, College Campillo, Gym Fitness Space, Sacred Heart College, Comparsa Fantasy AAVV Tertia, College of Puri, Peña Almendriqueña, VHS, Roots of My Earth New Lorca, Campillo Women's Association, Ballet Carmen Franco, The Vine Neighborhood Association of San Juan and Comparsa La Torrecilla.

The mayor explained that by the Department of Culture and Celebrations financial assistance is provided to all the groups, stereos for each cutting and a monitor that has helped them to make the costumes.
