The CHS public information shows the demarcation of the Rambla de Biznaga in Lorca (09/02/2015)

The Segura basin (CHS) has released for public consultation the demarcation of the Rambla de Biznaga in Lorca.

The basin organization attaches great importance to execute the works of demarcation of this channel to improve the evacuation of water from flooding in the great plain that stretches between Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras.

After its publication today in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia, stakeholders have one month to submit comments.

This demarcation is one of the projects contained in the Plan of Defense of the High Guadalentín which was launched in late 2012, after the flood of St. Wenceslas.

Then came the stagnation of a large mass of water from the wadis of Torrecilla and Béjar that found no outlet to the natural drainage of the area, the Rambla de Biznaga.

The area on which will act includes a stretch of 20 kilometers, from the deputation of Campillo to the mouth of the river Guadalentín, and will be on both banks of the river bed, part of which had disappeared years ago and transformed into land culture.

The most important part of this project is the initial, which is traditionally recorded flooding problems.

It lies between the area known as La Retamosa, Campillo, and the old road of Eagles.

This is the section where the original channel does not currently exist.

In fact, during the flood of September 2012, the Rambla de Biznaga worked very well in its final stretch, but not in the near-Lorca-Eagles, where he failed to drain the accumulated water highway area.

Consequently, a large area of 9,000 hectares between the towns of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras was flooded and remained mired for several days, with consequent damage to crops, livestock and homes.

From the Puente del Vado and to its mouth in the Guadalentín, in the hamlet of Hinojar, the promenade and acquires its own characteristics and is better defined, so that too many amendments are not necessary is that section as a result of the boundary.
