Fifty people at risk of social exclusion benefit Gypsy Development Project (03/03/2015)

The Councillor for Social Services in the city of Lorca, Maria del Carmen Ruiz, along with the Director General of Pensions, Assessment and Inclusion Programs CARM, D. Miguel Angel Miranda, this morning visited the workshop of informatics benefiting students Gypsy Development Plan This is the so-called "Cañada Morales Project", which is developing since last December 1, lasting until next April 30.

Jódar Ruiz explained that this project is part of the activities of integral social intervention to care, prevention of marginalization and integration of the Roma (Gypsy Development Plan) that is being developed by the City with funding aimed integrated purpose by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the Instituto Murciano Social Action and national level through the Ministry of Health.

The Councillor for Social Services stressed that among the programs that the City Council are carried to term to help families with problems of social exclusion include, among others, CaixaProinfancia project that has been invested to date 2.4 million benefiting nearly a thousand children, Social Orchards plan for families thanks to the Bureau runs and Organic Farming Workshop (comprising 10 members), Computer Workshop (17 users) Workshop mosaics (16).

The project, which has a budget of 20,361.90 euros, is intended for 18 families living in the area where the (Cañada de Morales) program is executed, resulting in the participation of more than 46 people.

The beneficiaries of the participating classes offered Monday through Friday from 10-12 am and 4-6 pm.

This program has selected for the delivery of the sessions that is integrated with staff holding workshops and fieldwork is including a Worker / Social Educator, Educator / a Street and a specialist in domestic arrangements equipment.

The sessions are distributed to families so that morning classes are offered to adults, and afternoon children (respecting compatibility with school hours).

Thus, classes for adults are held in the mornings from 10am to 12 hours.

Dedicating the first hour classes literacy and mathematics.

And the second time to the completion of the workshops, except Wednesday to devote to exit all morning resources dedicated to this activity because we need time to travel.

The number of adults enrolled in the activity of 20 participants, while the number of children enrolled is 26.

This initiative is habitual holding municipal facilities in Canada de Morales and Juan Gonzalez Public School.

The areas of work within the Project are:

Social Action: Improve knowledge of the target population in affected neighborhoods.

Education: Universal schooling and increase the academic success of students participating in the project, in primary education.

Increased educational attainment of the adult target population.

Training and Employment: Improving access to mainstream employment and reducing job insecurity among the target population.

Improve the professional skills of the population to be served.

Health: Improving the health status of the population to address and reduce social inequalities in health: Intervention in children.

Improve the health status of the population to address and reduce social inequalities in health: intervention in adult populations.

Housing and Habitat: Improving the Quality of Life of Roma.
