Cabrera (UPyD) defends education and youth "that Lorca is a city of the XXI Century" (28/04/2015)

The candidate of Unión Progreso y Democracia mayor of Lorca, Juan Manuel Cabrera, believes that strategies are needed to combat truancy, "working closely with the various schools" of the municipality.

In this regard, states that "the channel of social participation for such initiatives may be the municipal school board."

Cabrera proposes developing a training plan, addressing the needs of workers to collaborate in the educational administration, the teaching staff and the economic and social agents of the municipality.

"To this could be added the establishment of a compromise between the local government and major companies Lorca to create jobs for young people studying in these training programs."

According to Cabrera, the current system of selection of school in the city "negative" because it involves accumulation types of students depending on the family's economic situation.

"This system ends up turning some schools into real ghettos, in which students are discriminated against due to the lack of equal opportunity and access to sports facilities and leisure languages".

"We must establish a municipal action plan, focusing on the development of democratic and personal values from schools, extended to family environments by parents or schools encouraging collaboration between parents and teachers."

Finally, the candidate for mayor of Lorca UPyD, argues that a priority action in the prevention of youth violence, promotion of youth associations or developing management programs alternatives to conflict.
