The four municipal groups agree Lorca Hall of the House out Monday on a joint motion for the care of refugees (25/09/2015)

The initiative urges administrations to take care of refugees as a matter of state, boosting European funds to strengthen cooperation efforts in the countries of origin and that the City make an awareness campaign on the need for political asylum and prevent racist and xenophobic attitudes.

Councillor for Social Policy at the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, has reported the agreement reached by the four local groups to present a joint motion in Parliament next Monday on the issue of Syrian refugees.

Mínguez explained that this motion is to "urge the government to continue to promote a genuine European common and comprehensive policy on immigration and asylum, which must have sufficient financial resources and to strengthen the responsiveness of the Union European emergency situations like the one we are living ".

In the same line it is to push the envelope of Europe to strengthen and concentrate cooperation efforts in the countries of origin funds and in particular a European Trust Fund for financial assistance to African countries, inspired by a proposal made by the Government of Spain.

Likewise it is asked to give priority to dialogue and cooperation with countries of origin and transit, as well as with neighboring countries in conflict areas receiving refugees.

It is also encouraged to cooperate with transit countries to protect their borders and combat the mafias who profit from this human tragedy and work together on many initiatives allow us to achieve peace and stability in the places of origin of refugees .

In addition, the city of Lorca urges the Government of Spain for approval as soon as possible, the Regulation of the Law 12/2009 of October 30, regulating the right of asylum and subsidiary protection.
