Murcia will receive an allocation of state 247,500 euros for the actions of forestry and environmental restoration of the Sierra del Almirez in Lorca, as agreed today by the Council of Ministers.
The declared last August 6 in the Sierra del Almirez fire affected a semi-arid area where vegetation was an important element of erosion control and improvement of biodiversity, besides providing great landscape value.
Following meetings between officials of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment was achieved that the fire was regarded as catastrophic event for the area, and a special performance of restoration was raised Hydrological Forest on an emergency basis.
The Ministry states that the affected area is out of woodland vegetation cover and the first autumn rains have highlighted the need for immediate intervention, the gullies and abarrancamientos processes occur, with consequent solid tows

These circumstances have led to the declaration of emergency for the actions of forestry and environmental restoration.
The recovery plan of the Sierra del Almirez, conducted by experts from the Ministry, includes the elimination of burned wood, affected road improvement, construction of dams and earthworks and removal of trees located on the edge of the fire.
These trees have been weakened by the effects of high temperatures and have achieved a reduction in vegetative vigor and therefore may be affected by pests drillers.
Work to alleviate these effects have already begun.
With these actions the recovery plan set ablaze in the Sierra del Almirez (TM Lorca), submitted in late August by the Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache land is fulfilled.
The recovery plan of the Sierra del Almirez is part of the three plans drawn up by the Ministry for the regeneration of the mountains of Lorca, Calasparra and Cieza affected by fires in August.
The total investment of the plans is over 3.3 million euros, of que1.102.248 euros will go towards the restoration of the environment Almadenes Canyon, 450,290 euros to the recovery of the area burned in the Almorchón and 1,805. 154 euros for the Sierra del Almirez, and financed with EU funds.
