The Community reinforces the culture of citizen participation in Lorca new measures'Gobierno Abierto' (01/12/2015)

The Minister of Presidency, Maria Dolores Pagan, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, today signed the "Regional public engagement ', by which the city adds to the Regional Network of Municipalities for Citizen Participation and new measures of 'Open Government' which is conducting the regional government.

The Minister highlighted the work done by the City Council in this area in recent years as well as "social city council as a tool for structured participation which welcomes groups and representatives of civil society of the municipality", and recalled that the involvement and participation of citizens in decision-making "generates higher quality public policies that will have an extra legitimacy, counting from the beginning with the support of the citizens."

The municipalities that adhere to Citizen Participation Commitment undertake to approve a municipal regulation of participation and promote participatory processes for the development of measures affecting the neighbors, among other measures.

For its part, the Community provides support and advice for the development of this municipal regulations as well as the implementation of the mechanisms requiring the exercise of the right of access to public information contained in the national and regional legislation on transparency, in addition to assuming the commitment to offer training courses in these matters to managers and technicians of the municipalities.

Pagan took the occasion to inform the municipality that the website of the Community (www.carm.es) has a new service 'right to know', "through which citizens can be directed to the regional administration directly and exercise from home the right to be informed. "

Lorca will have "the most modern fire station in the Region"

The Minister said during his visit to the municipality that the budgets of the Department for 2016 collected a batch of 1.8 million euros for the construction of firehouse Lorca, "which will be the largest and most modern of the Region of Murcia ".

Pagan stressed the importance of the park's area of ​​influence covering as it caters to an estimated 200,000 inhabitants.

The new building of firehouse Lorca is in the process of writing project, and takes into account all the needs and demands of firefighters themselves.

The new facilities will have seismic systems to prevent damage in case of earthquake, and have a total of ten vehicles.

The park will also feature a workshop for performing maintenance of vehicles, as well as various areas for staff use.

Moreover, notwithstanding the construction of the new park, the Ministry of Presidency will carry out improvements in existing facilities during the time when it is in the new building.

Pagan Maria Dolores recalled that in the next year will begin to develop the 'Strategy for 2016-2019 CEIS Modernization', which includes among its first actions a package of investments in facility improvements and staff equipment worth 800,000 euros.
