The Cabinet has approved a proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson, a grant of 673,151 Eurosal Lorca, from the European Investment préstamodelBanco, in order to carry out the management and execution of the works for the rehabilitation of the Church of San Pedro.
This project is part of the Master Plan for the Recovery of Cultural Heritage of Lorca, which establishes coordination and joint actions for the full recovery of the Historical-Artistic Sun City after the earthquake of May 11, 2011.
This building, with degree of protection 1 suffered considerable damage.
It is a rectangular church with a tower on the southeast side of the facade, next to the front door.
Other elements are preserved walls enclosing some remains of columns, capitals and starting a arcs.
The tower is rectangular, five by four meters and a height of 18 meters.
Account contres bodies, of which the first is solid and has a unique opening to access it.
The second body has four arched openings, one on each side of the tower, and the third is crenellated, giving it an aspect of medieval tower.

The Cabinet has given the green light, a proposal from the Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson, a grant of 547,531 euros to the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, from the European Investment préstamodelBanco for the implementation of the second phase of the Additional emergency works and rehabilitation project of the Church of San Diego de Lorca.
This project is part of the Master Plan for the Recovery of Cultural Heritage of Lorca, which establishes coordination and joint actions for the full recovery of the historical and artistic city of the sun after the earthquake of May 11, 2011.
This building, with degree of protection in January, suffered considerable damage and the initial investment for rehabilitation included among others the recovery of the main facade, the old steeple, which collapsed, the consolidation of the structure, the settlement of the pillars and various performances on the vault and the temple.
During the course of these works of recovery have been detected other severely damaged by earthquakes, such as those with the pillars supporting the vaulted structure, major divestitures of building materials, deformations in the soil structure of the dressing room and the false ceiling of the sacristy or the formation of the cover flaps by reinforced concrete slabs, a risk factor very important to new earthquakes.
They have appeared decorations such as paintings in several areas of the ships and the presbytery of the church and others in the roof of the vestry, Chapel of San Jose and on the side of the Sacristy, which will be recovered.
The need to address these trabajosjustifica this new grant for the rehabilitation of the Church of San Diego.
