Antonio Cerdá out that the equine industry contributes to rural development and is a source of employment and wealth (25/06/2008)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, said today that the equine industry Murcia "contributes to rural development and is a source of employment and wealth."

Cerda made the remarks on the occasion of the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Association of Breeders of Pure Breeds of the Region of Murcia, to boost livestock breeding horses.

Insemination Center expansion

Equine Insemination Centre of CIFE Lorca was put into operation in 2006 through a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Water and the city of Lorca.

Its facilities also serve to support the initiatives of the Directorate General of Livestock and Fisheries, are open to all farmers in Murcia.

In the two years of operation have come to obtain fertility rates in mares 80 percent, which exceeds what has been achieved in any normal stud, whose rates are between 65 and 70 percent.

Breeding
