Lorca City Council announced a new investment of 600,000 euros of which will benefit 14 schools throughout the municipality (04/11/2008)

The total investment in education only in the last 12 months is more than 3 million euros |

The Councillor for Education and the City University of Lorca, José Joaquín Peñarrubia, has made public this morning to formalize a new agreement reached last Wednesday with the Minister of Education, Sotoca Constantine, by which schools will receive a new Lorca investment of some € 600,000 which is intended to improve educational infrastructure.

Councilman of Education has stressed that the City will invest specifically 558,040.04 euros from the Regional Government to carry out works in 14 schools, which come to add to the many activities being undertaken throughout the municipality for the upgrading of infrastructure educational.

Schools that will benefit from these new investments are Purias Public schools, Almendros, La Parroquia, Zarzadilla of Totana, Coy, Councillor, Ramonete, The Wire, San Jose and San Fernando, besides the "Narciso Yepes" "José Robles", "Virgen de las Huertas" and "Perez de Hita."

Peñarrubia said that this is good news for Lorca and especially for the educational community in the municipality, it will ensure that our schools have better facilities in our schools.

In the meeting between Councillor and Minister of Education addressed other issues such as the progress that has led to the launch of new public school Ana Caicedo.

Both officials have stressed that thanks to the opening of that center has reduced the number of students per classroom, placing this ratio in the lowest levels in childhood and later in primary school.

Convention for the First Municipal Nursery School

Peñarrubia announced another very good news for Lorca, and is that last Friday the Governing Council of the Autonomous Region approved the signing of an agreement for the construction and equipping of the first Municipal Nursery School will host children aged 4 months and 3 years.

This issue was one of the agreements with the Director General of Department.

From the Department of Education estimates that this nursery, which will house up to a hundred children, may come into operation two years later to formalize the signature of the agreement.

This will occur if no unforeseen circumstances, before the end of this year.
