Water Councilman City of Lorca, Melchor Morales, has reported that the Mayor of our city, Francisco Jodar has been chosen as representative of 132 municipalities in the Committee of Competent Authorities of the Segura River Basin District.
Morales explained that last October 21, that body was established, which includes among its core functions of promoting the cooperation with respect to the powers in the protection of the various government bearing waters within the river basin.
The Committee will promote the establishment of measures by the authorities to comply with the standards of protection of this law and the European Union will provide information on the Segura River Basin District is required under its regulations.
Melchor Morales has said that among the specific features of fostering cooperation in the development of plans and programs and promote the adoption of resolutions and agreements between different government and oversee the updating of the Register of Protected Areas.
Since the City has indicated that the functions in the water planning process will be to facilitate and secure the information required by the Council's Water Demarcation Segura.
Also focus on facilitating cooperation between competent authorities for the preparation of the Outline of Important Issues (ETI), and the development of programs of measures and their incorporation into DHS Hydrological Plan.
Another function will be to show compliance to the Water Plan and its subsequent revisions after the government raised.
Among its challenges is to provide information denotes the agency to monitor basin water plan and promote the development and maintenance of an information system on the status of water bodies.
Councilman Water has stated that among the major issues being tackled, is the public consultation Scheme Interim Important Issues of the river basin of the Segura, published in the BOE n º 183, dated July 30, 2008 , by announcing the opening of the public consultation process over a period of 6 months.
Morales has stated that eight officers have been established within the territorial area of all of the Segura River Basin District, corresponding to the Bureau Lorca called Southwest, while the next scheduled meeting on December 2, 2008.
This table is composed of the Councils of the Counties of Los Vélez, South West - Guadalentín and Bajo Almanzora Valley which includes the towns of Aguilas, Aledo, Alhama de Murcia, Chirivel, Huércal-Overa, Cuevas de Almanzora, Librilla, Lorca, María , Mazarrón, Puerto Lumbreras, Pulpí, Totana, Velez Rubio and Velez Blanco.
This table may be incorporated Territorial technical, social, economic, environmental data given by the competent authorities and stakeholders.
From City of Lorca, having examined the Provisional Outline Major Issues, payments will be made both in the Territorial officers as the Committee of Competent Authorities.
