Lorca's 36 schools will celebrate the World Day of the Rights of the Child with an intercultural human football championship among school from 9 to 11 years (20/11/2008)

This new activity which aims to promote sport as an instrument of integration, will be held in December with a first phase in each of the schools, playing the final on the 18th.

The winning team will stay in the hostel Calnegre tips for around the room, 600 € in books for the center, and a € 1,000 donation to a local NGO Child level chosen by the winning team and center.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar this morning's first championship football human intercultural students in second stage of primary (5 th and 6 th) of 36 schools in the municipality, who organized the departments of Social Care and Education to celebrate World Children's Rights, which falls today.

Jódar Francisco explained that "in early December will take place within school hours the first stage in each of the schools for team selection to represent them.

In this new initiative is open to all students of 2 nd cycle of compulsory primary education, between 9 and 11 years, public and private schools of the town and villages.

Each man football team will be composed of ten members and two reserves, thus participating in the finals a total of 384 children.

The teams selected for the final, will be provided with fair, while the winning team will get a stay in the hostel Calnegre tips for the entire classroom of the winning team, a check in the amount of 600 €, for the purchase of books reading for the winning student center, and a € 1,000 donation to a local NGO child level, which will be chosen by the winning team and center.

Objectives pursued

Through this project, the Mayor aims to use sport as a means of integrating immigrant children, creating an environment to share experiences and to transmit values among young people.

Jódar stressed that "sport recognizes only the difference in athletic performance, regardless of their social and cultural background, the color of their skin or religion.

We believe that sport can unite very different people, thus promoting integration and overcoming any social barriers, encouraging the emergence of social networks and their development.

This new program also aims to encourage the participation of groups of children from different schools in Lorca, who voluntarily attend an activity with the aim of creating a meeting place and closer to the / schoolgirls in different centers Study of the municipality of Lorca, promoting mutual understanding.

It seeks to enhance participants' creativity through the completion of this activity, and build new programs for leisure within the school environment in the town of Lorca.

This activity is a change to the celebration of this day, which began last year with the completion of I Memorial Drawing Competition "World Children's Day."
