The Governing Council has approved grants worth a total of 385,857 euros for the restoration of historic and artistic heritage of Lorca.
The Diocese of Cartagena will receive 304,657 euros from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to restore the Church of San Cristobal de Lorca, and the City, 81,200 euros for drafting the conservation and restoration of the Guevara Palace, also known as House of Columns , declared of Cultural Interest Monument category.
The church of San Cristobal is located in the seat of the priest José Macho district of San Cristobal de Lorca.
The interventions were carried out on the outdoor patio and new windows will be reset to the Chapel of the Holy Communion and seven of the main nave of the church who are in poor condition.
In addition, we will proceed to healthy of moisture, repairing cracks in the ceiling of the church and the painting of the ships and chapels.
The Guevara Palace Project will collect the conservation and restoration actions to carry out the recovery of the building, his connection with the recreation space within the garden and its possible link with the nearby craft center and the Plaza de Concha Sandoval.
