The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, Lorca said last night that "the globalization of markets requires the cooperative to meet new challenges."
The owner of Agriculture and Water made the remarks at the close of the summer course 'Competitiveness of agricultural cooperatives in a global context', organized by the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, in collaboration with Cajamar and Caja Rural.
Cerda said that given the increasing globalization and competition is necessary to develop our business strategies, among which accelerated technological innovation, marketing initiatives and major capital investments, "and in many cases, processes of concentration of supply ".
During his speech, the Minister of Agriculture and Water said the unions "are the biggest symbol of unity and strength" in the agricultural sector, noting that in addition to mergers pose for the control of a greater volume of production, "the principal is to have good management, "he said.
He said that cooperatives "have established their production and advice and training to farmers, but not marketing," said Cerda, so influenced the need to "concentrate supply with effective management to find the profitability and competitiveness" .

The number of registered cooperatives in the Region of Murcia is 273, of whom 40 percent are engaged in agricultural marketing.
Agricultural cooperatives billed 47 percent of the production of the agricultural industry, with 856 million euros and employs about 50,000 people.
