The mayor convenes an extraordinary plenary session to request the disaster area declaration for the parishes affected by the heavy hail (12/08/2009)

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, convene an extraordinary plenary session for next Tuesday at 12:00 hours to request the disaster area declaration for the parishes affected by high heavy hail last Monday, following the procedure announced on Tuesday at conference release by the three council members responsible for dealing with the situation created by the inclement weather.

The hamlets of AvilÚs, Do˝a InÚs, Coy, La Paca and part of Totana Zarzadilla were most affected by this devastating hailstorm, producing heavy damage vineyards and almond trees especially.

In this regard, the City began this afternoon in a store AvilÚs sharing fungicides (Folpet) to prevent the putrefaction of these plants generate the proliferation of fungi and other elements that may impair further the situation.

In the 2,500 hectares affected and crops including vines and almond trees, some tomato, artichoke and olives, to a lesser extent.

Acting Mayor, Francisco Garcia and Councilman Environment, Melchor Morales, visited the area in the late afternoon of events to analyze the situation, coordinating the actions of the Municipal Emergency Service and other municipal services, and to respond neighbors who required it.
