The PSOE accused of reneging on agreements Jódar the Municipal Council about the School of Medicine (26/09/2009)

The Socialists presented a motion in Parliament on Monday criticizing the "excessive conformity and understanding" of the Mayor of PP to the first negative response from the Regional Administration for the implementation of the degree on campus Lorca

Note from PSOE:

The Municipal Socialist Group in the House asked the City Council next Monday to reiterate, before the competent bodies, its request to the campus of Lorca count with a medical school.

The Socialist councilor, Leoncio Collado, recalled that in July 2007, the Municipal Group Socialist and filed a motion, which was approved by all political groups whose agreements contained in this requirement.

Through this motion, the Municipal Corporation also agreed to initiate actions to raise awareness for their commitment to this initiative to institutions and organizations more representative of society Lorca.

However, after two years, socialists have not made sufficient efforts to ensure that this important claim to be a reality.

Quite the contrary, say that the attitude displayed by the PP mayor, Francisco Jodar has been "excessive conformity and understanding" to the first negative response from the Regional Administration.

In fact, last August 30 during a visit by the mayors of Puerto Lumbreras, Aguilas, Mazarrón and Totana to work on the campus, and has not invited the opposition groups in Jódar Lorca himself, asked by the media about the possibility of implementing a medical college campus in Lorca, said that "one must first build the project and others can be counterproductive."

This statement highlights for the PSOE is "not a priority for the Mayor" that the future University of Lorca, to be the first campus of the health of the region, expect a medical school to become the municipality at a point national reference for health education.

Socialist councilors described as "serious" that the commitments made by the Municipal Council itself vanishes "like sugar in hot water", while lamented the disregard of the PP government team to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lorca said, specifically, the need for the University of Lorca has this degree.

Meanwhile, in the region is still difficult to find enough staff medical practitioner to meet the health demands of both primary care and at the level of hospital care.

Murcia has experienced in the last decade, rapid population growth in absolute numbers occupying fifth place in national immigration influx after the regions of Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia and Valencia, these communities with much larger indigenous population.

13.5% of the regional population is foreign and increasing day by day, leading national immigration weight with Madrid and the Canaries.

This population growth is not evenly punctuated with setting templates Health Centers and Hospitals, which has, therefore, the excessive number of textbooks for medical and continuing complaints from the public health system users and doctors to regulate this untenable situation.
