The CHS begins construction of channeling the Angles ravine on the site of the Priests (08/10/2009)

Note from PSOE:

The Municipal Group Socialist deputy spokesman, Francisco Ruiz Alviar, today announced the start of the works of channeling storm water into the ravine of the Angles, located in the place of priests (Ramonete).

Alviar Ruiz reported the Segura basin, under the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine, will invest over one hundred million pesetas (602,525 euros) in this project.

Through it, you will meet a historical demand of the 200 residents of the village, which dates from 1987 when there was the diversion of natural flow from the coastline.

The socialist mayor recalled that in October 2000 an Ecuadorian woman and her two year old son died in the area when they were surprised by the water while traveling in a car.

Recently, a British citizen was also dragged by the water, but eventually escaped unhurt, although the output of the promenade of the priests stopped at first on the staff of Civil Protection and the local police access to the place where was the car.

Moreover, in recent years have flooded several homes and businesses and residents have come to leave their homes for fear of flooding from storms.

To stop flooding the CHS has been designed to restore a water channel leading to the promenade of channeling Ramonete ravine a mile from the Angles by breakwater to its confluence with the said avenue.

Alviar Ruiz thanked especially the interest of the president of the CHS, José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, to solve this serious problem after the previous government of José María Aznar, "did not give a single pass in eight years for the removal of neighbors threat hanging over them every time it rains.
