The City Council of Women of the Municipality of Lorca, Antonia Lopez, has reported that "this year, from the Municipal Council of Women, will celebrate the Day of Rural Women with a conference on the role of women in rural development to be held on 16 and 23 October. "

Lopez explained that during the first session to be held at the Hotel Amaltheia, will analyze the current situation of rural women, through a presentation be made by the president of the Federation of Rural Women, Juana Borrego Izquierdo.

In the second session to be held at the Restaurant Faroli during morning and afternoon of October 23 will showcase the Rural Development Program in the Region of Murcia, by the Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development Julio Bernal Fontes, The Leader in Strategy Plan for Rural Development in the Region of Murcia 2007-2013, by the Head of the Diversity of Rural Economy, Fernando Galán.

And in the evening, be exposed to issues affecting rural women: Joint Ownership, Women Entrepreneurship, and some ways to develop rural areas.

The City Council has stressed that "this initiative the City of Lorca, through the Municipal Council of Women, seeks to encourage rural development and the prominence of women take it this means making information relevant to any measures are going to push from the different public administrations. "

"We also social recognition of rural women in the town of Lorca and facilitate the role of women in rural development through knowledge of EAFRD Rural Development Program in the Region of Murcia 2007-2013", has Antonia Lopez concluded.

These seminars are aimed at rural women, associations of rural women and agricultural and social organizations that are present in the rural municipality of Lorca.

Se estima una participación próxima a 250 personas en representación  de las mujeres del medio rural, asociaciones de mujeres, organizaciones agrarias y sociales que están presentes en el municipio de Lorca.
