The PSOE asked in plenary the burial of all containers in the city (23/10/2009)

The Socialist Councillor Maria Ponce announced today that the Socialist Municipal Group asked in Parliament next Monday that the city of Lorca proceed with the development and implementation of a project that has the purpose of gradual burial of all containers in the municipality.

Ponce said that one of the main problems that the city supports is motivated by bad smells and dirt generated by the points of discharge of solid waste.

The mayor said the trash bins and recycling paper, cans and glass are a constant source of annoyance to the neighbors, especially for those living next to these containers, especially during the summer, as well as an impact negative visual streets and squares.

He recalled that the urban area of the city already has some experience in the underground container system that currently extends to some streets being renovated, thanks to Plan E of the Government of Spain.

In that sense said it was necessary to extend this system to the rest of the city, not to generate "a comparative grievances and other areas."

The advantages of this system

The waste is deposited through boxes installed at street level, marked for each type of collection, made of stainless steel.

The emptying of the same is done by lifting a pen container with double hook and casting for lower gate, a simple and reliable with minimal maintenance and no additional equipment, and the lift system platform where containers are located (either rear or side loading) through a hydraulically controlled from the truck.

The design avoids any need for camouflage, harmonizes with the environment while avoiding a negative visual impact and saves space that can be used for other purposes.

Among the many advantages of this system are also the impossibility of any physical contact with the waste, avoid the hassles of bad smells, accumulations, insects and other animals, and allows outreach to people with disabilities.

In addition, underground containers are designed to prevent the removal of waste and are equipped with a safety system that prevents accidental damage during use and the collection process.
