This Friday will begin the VII Conference of Egyptology, which will review the beginning of Egyptology, four Theban tombs and the city of Amarna (27/10/2009)

The Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Lorca, Rosa Medina, and the president of the Association of Friends of Egyptology of Lorca, Antonio Luis Paez, presented this morning the VII Conference of Egyptology, which will open on Friday 30 October and continue Saturday 31 October to Friday 6 November.

Medina explained that "a year we bring the Egyptian culture to Lorca, with these informative talks to be held at the Cultural Center of the City from 20:30 hours."

The Councillor for Culture stressed that "Manuel Abeledo, founded two associations of Egyptology in Cantabria, start the conference with a lecture Napeoleón in Egypt: The beginning of Egyptology."

This conference will discuss questions such as who was the driver of the Navy expedition destined East Egypt, Napoleon Bonaparte and 167 scholars on May 19, 1798.

The next day, the degree in Geography and History and technical historian of the Directorate General of Historical Heritage of the Community of Madrid, Cristina Pino, will speak on "funerary art in ancient Egypt: four Theban tombs, which will focus on the graves of Ineni (TT 81), Horemheb (TT 78), Userehat (TT 51) and Ipuy (TT 217), belonging to different historical periods and artistic, exercising their own different roles in life: a construction officer Thutmose I, a scribe of the army of Thutmose IV, a funerary priest in the reign of Seti I and a craftsman of the royal tombs under Ramses II.

Finally, Teresa Armijo, a professor of courses on ancient Egypt taught at the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Egypt in Spain, the Spanish Association of Egyptology and the Spanish Association of Orientalists, will be responsible for the conference "A visit to Amarna: Akhenaten and Nefertiti. "

This evening the audience may know the kings of this city, its palaces, temples and streets, including the mansions of the wealthy and the workers houses and the tombs of the nobles and humble cemetery.
