The Councillor of Tourism of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has announced that this initial investment of € 795,041.27 will consolidate and mark the ruins, after which it will undertake the comprehensive rehabilitation.
The Councillor of Tourism of the Municipality of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has announced that the Local Government Committee at its last meeting approved the final award of the work to consolidate, value and suitability for the sightseeing tour of the ruins of the church Santa Maria, located in the neighborhood of the same name, for an amount of € 795,041.27.
Montiel has reported that "the beginning of these works is imminent and will last about seven months, so in the summer 2010 tourist visits could begin this landmark temple, which contribute to the recovery of a very important part of our heritage and the revitalization of Uptown Lorca. "
"The Church of Santa Maria is an important visual focus within the network profile and monumental city, and thus fulfilling our election commitments, we include this work in the Municipal Investment Plan (PIMUN'09)", recalled the Councillor for Tourism.
The Municipal Government proceeded with the award of the implementation of these projects funded by the municipality of Lorca, Feder Funds, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Region, through the Tourism Promotion Plan , which follow the guidelines of the Blueprint for Implementation of consolidation and adjustment for sightseeing tour of the Church of Santa Maria de Lorca commissioned by the Tourist Consortium 'Lorca Taller del Tiempo, and designed by the architects of Lorca Isabel María Hernández, Jeronimo Granados and Francisco José Fernández, amounting to 30,000 €.
