The Government of Spain fully modernize irrigation lorquino after investing over 130 million € (04/11/2009)

The president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, today presented the president of the Community Irrigation Lorca, Manuel Soler, records of transfer of the modernization of irrigation works in Marchena, La Hoya, Velopache and Torrecilla, which, together with those already made and those being planned (the third) have a combined total investment of more than 130 million euros, a figure never before achieved in this area of the Segura Basin.

Lorca Irrigation covers an area of 11,782 hectares, as recorded by the Plan of the Segura River Basin and is located in the river valley and a small alluvial Guadalentín partner.

Water resources that sustain it come from the regulated water reservoirs Valdeinfierno and Bridges, the pumping of groundwater, water transfer redotación of the Tagus, and to a lesser extent, the granting of treated wastewater generated in the .

The actions undertaken by the Ministry of Lorca for irrigation under the so-called Sector VII, VIII of the Irrigation Area of Lorca and Valle del Guadalentín as defined in Decree 674/1973 of 15 March 1533 / 1975 of 5 June and the Orders of June 22, 1982 and September 11, 1989.

Sector VIII includes Velopache irrigation areas (600 hectares), Torrecilla (950 has.) Rambla (2,467 has.), Marchena (2,430 ha.) Cazalla and Tamarchete (1,893 has.) And the Sector VII Hoya (2197 ha.) and Tercia (1,028 has.).

The works carried out in Marchena have made a total investment of 22,059,774 euros '34, and have included the placement of 4,260 meters linear pressure pipe in place and 5,396 meters breaststroke linear pipeline and the construction of 19,960 meters of service roads.

The next area has been completed is the Rambla, where 66,351 meters have been installed pressure pipe linear, linear drains 22,328 meters, 6,635 meters linear armbands, and 41,852 meters have been built linear service roads.

The investment amounts to 34.5 million euros.

Then will come the turn Tamarchete Cazalla and whose works are to upgrade 90 percent of execution and that will mean a total planned investment of EUR 21,132,081.90.

The work includes the placement of 28,504 meters linear pressure pipe and 16,863 meters of pipe linear armbands, and the construction of 20,134 meters of service roads.

In this project we have included additional works at the request of the irrigators themselves, which consist basically in the piping of ditches at the murky waters Cañarejo armband, as well as the widening of the road Feli armband in order to promote fluency traffic and improve safety levels in the area.

In addition, the Directorate General of Water, Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs has approved the project of modernization of irrigation in La Tercia, whose next step will be tender and has a budget of 29,954,869.31 euros.

The performance consists of the linear placement of 43,296 meters of pipe pressure and 14,704 meters linear armlets, and the construction of 25,617 meters of service roads.

The modernization of irrigation in Lorca began in 1990 when he finished work on Velopache, which investment amounted to 2,774,383.67 euros, putting 13,020 meters of pipe fitted linear and 11,500 meters of roads built to service.

Later, in 1993, the Government of Spain completed the modernization of irrigation works of the turret, which received an investment of 1,908,386 Euro '93, and watched the linear placement of 9,691 meters of pipe and construction of 8,800 meters service road.

Later, in 1995, EUR 10,812,255.85 was invested in the modernization of irrigation in La Hoya, putting 78,530 meters linear pipeline and 35,500 meters linear building service roads.

Finally, other actions taken to improve the irrigation of Lorca (Cabezo Raft of the Lions, improving irrigation wells, driving clear water from the reservoir Bridges, among others) have meant an investment of 7,090,049 euros.
