The March First Solidarity with fibromyalgia Lorca travel November 29 (26/11/2009)

The City Councillor for NGO Lorca, Mari Carmen Ruiz, and President of the Fibromyalgia Association Lorca, Antonio Robles Ruiz, presented this morning the first march of solidarity for those suffering from this disease, to be held on 29 November after 11 hours from the Mall of the Constitution.

Ruiz has encouraged citizens to participate in this activity, which combines sport and solidarity through a tour that will reach the Convent of the Virgen de las Huertas, to return to the starting point.

Persons wishing to participate in this charity event, may register the same day from the point of departure and pay the 5 €, which will receive a shirt and a bottle of water.

Councilwoman recalled that fibromyalgia is a chronic disease characterized by long-term pain in muscles and joints throughout the body, which often interferes with daily chores and everyday people with this disease.

Currently, the cause of this disease and there is no cure, although it affects approximately 5% of the population - is more common in women than in men and may also occur in children -.

Antonia Robles pointed out that there are measures that alleviate the disease and improve quality of life of those who suffer, for example, heat through hot showers or using lamps, pillows and electric blankets.

The massage, spas and whirlpools are also a good resource for their patients, as well as maintaining stable times, avoid large meals or drinks exciting and very spicy.

Similarly, exercise and maintain proper muscle tone, mediates greatly enhance quality of life by reducing pain frequency and intensity.
