540 people have attended briefings on the prevention of influenza A by the City Council in the schools of the municipality (12/01/2010)

Were distributed over 5,000 leaflets and posters.

The Councillor for Health of the City of Lorca, Antonia Lopez, has been reported that the municipal officers have made since September more than a dozen talks at schools in the city, neighborhoods and districts to report on Influenza A.

Lopez said that "in total attended these briefings in which some 540 people attended, with participation varied depending on the college or institute that is organized."

The Councillor explained that "in addition to talks aimed specifically at parents and teachers, as announced at the beginning of the course have been distributed hundreds of posters and 5,000 leaflets to schools, social and sports with prevention tips to the disease ".

Antonia Lopez indicated that "as for several weeks has been detected and continued a steep decline in the estimated cases of H1N1 pandemic influenza, the Ministry of Health and Social Policy considers it unnecessary to continue to provide regular information on the evolution of this disease, since estimates are no longer significant at this time. "

"For this reason, and as already treated the demands made by the AMPAS and addresses of schools in the municipality, we believe that it was time to make this balance.

However, we remain open to any request for information as the general population and if thereafter there are changes or modifications of interest in the evolution of the epidemic, the Ministry of Health and therefore the Department of Health proceed to promptly communicate to the media and public opinion ", stressed the council.

However, the Councillor for Health has said that "preventive measures have proved effective, so you should continue taking the recommendation to wash hands frequently, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when sneezing or coughing and just then throw the tissue away, as well as more frequent cleaning furniture surfaces, doorknobs, items, ... with the usual cleaning products and air more often opening windows.

It is also advisable to avoid sharing glasses, cutlery and other items that have been in contact with saliva or secretions.
