The new streetlights will increase road safety by improving lighting and, because of its design and materials, reduce the severity of injury in an accident, while minimizing the costs of maintenance and repair of the vehicle in a collision.
Another advantage over previous models of street lamps is to reduce energy consumption and therefore costs by 40 percent.
The installation of new lighting system in this area will directly benefit the more than 1.5 million motorists who travel this road annually.
In this regard, the Director General of Highways said that "since it is at night when they concentrate 40 percent of the accidents, the main objective of this initiative is to improve road safety by providing drivers with greater visibility at night, in addition to improve energy efficiency by significantly reducing the cost of street lighting system.
