The Socialist Party says: "thousand students enrolled in Primary 5 in Lorca will be left without a laptop on a whim de Valcárcel" (22/01/2010)

The Socialist councilor Ginés Diaz, announced today the launch of an urgent motion at Full Council next Monday for the City Council to urge the regional government on the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Education to implement the "School 2.0" .

Diaz explained that Lorca enrolled in Primary 5 a thousand students who can not benefit from a laptop because the regional government of the PP has decided not to sign the state contract to implement the School Program 2.0.

This is an initiative to implement the XXI Century Digital Classroom that is equipped with 100 million euros, of which 4 belonged to our region and around 300,000 to Lorca.

According to the mayor of the PSOE, the program gives each School 2.0 classroom in a digital whiteboard, projector, a laptop for the teacher, 25 ultra-portable for students, a deposit of material cabinet that acts as a carrier of computers, and teacher training.

It is a commitment to educational innovation, as the computer and Internet connection will become a standard and common way of learning as it is currently the book.

But it is also a commitment to equality, as there is a third of students who do not have at home Internet connection, and this is the only way to access these technologies.

For Diaz, the regional government if not rectified, "the digital divide that now exists with respect to the rest of Spain will be expanded rather than reduced."

He therefore asked the mayor of the PP, Francisco Jodar, who does not consent "this outrage."

Moreover, the Municipal Group Socialist considered unacceptable the reasons for the Ministry of Education for not implementing the program School 2.0, based on the economic costs and the need to "pilot experiments" prior.

"It is ironic that it is precisely the poor performance of experimentalism and waste, the signs of identity management and deployment of new technologies in the public educational structure of the Murcia region," said Diaz.

Since the original Plumier Programme, whose main result has been the accumulation of junk computers in schools, until Plummer Platform XXI, constantly testing, there has been more than nonsense.

At present, Plummer XXI, including student placement, management of student absences, tutoring, preparation or evaluation schedule should be implemented in most of the institutes is only a part of them and with problems operation, which will reveal more harshly in certain moments, like at the time of assessment in which are embedded many of our schools now.

And all this with a huge expense.

Only the last contract he went out to bid last November, aimed at different audiovisual material and computer to network electronics, software contracts or storage systems, totaling over 3 million euros, in charge of regional accounts .

To this we should add another 2.4 million who came to hiring in the last months of June and July and a contract of 3.9 million in several installments for the maintenance of computer systems to schools Despite the large number of existing computer consultants in their own regional government.

Overall in the last 6 months the Regional Government has allocated nine million euros in this area, with quite poor results.

Against this, the School Program 2.0, which claims that the regional government is not implemented in the Region of Murcia, is based on experiences of ministry programs, autonomous programs and even other countries and whose production, involving experts from various government .

But most importantly, the refusal to sign the agreement for the implementation of the School Program 2.0, leads to significant delays for our students compared to other regions, and the waiver of about 4 million of ministerial funds .

From the Socialist Municipal Group consider it a punishment that does not deserve the 1,000 pupils and students enrolled in Lorca Primary 5 in Lorca.

Councilman Gines Diaz said that since the PSOE be reported "strongly" that the government of acting in a partisan Valcárcel.

And is that of the 17 autonomous communities, only three (Madrid, Valencia and Murcia, the three ruled by the PP) will remain outside the School Program 2.0.

Thus, the funds reserved for Murcia go to other regions by the regional government's refusal to sign the State Treaty, which the Socialists lament.
