24 young unemployed Uptown Lorca scholarship will receive training on work habits, urban maintenance paint (26/01/2010)

The Councillor for Employment, Social Services and Local Development of the City of Lorca, Lali Ibarra, has announced that starting this week Lorca from 18 to 25 years without work habits and at risk of social exclusion, but with possibilities of inclusion, form with theory and professional practice for six months, while making improvements in the districts through the project "You and your neighborhood."

Lali Ibarra explained that "it is a socio-project work to be implemented in areas including the Urban Initiative Uptown Lorca through a basic training process of socially disadvantaged people through the training of monitors and technicians will try to improve their skills.

They were educated in basic skills and will practice in their neighborhoods to improve the external image in streets, public spaces and gardens, so that participants learn a profession and appreciate the effort of maintaining their environment in good condition. "

Specifically, two teachers will be responsible for teaching basic skills and work habits, after which some instructors will train and coordinate actions of paint (for walls, fences, railings, benches, street furniture and road markings) and maintenance of the urban scene (such as green areas, cleaning of degraded areas and pavements).

Students participating in this program have been selected by experts from the Municipal Council of Social Services, will support scholarships to the theoretical and practical training and complementary, with an amount per student of 300 € / month, which is also more aid to families in times of crisis.

However, the amount of the grant is reduced by € 15 per day for not attending training.

The no justification for the failure will be low because of the program.

The procedure will be promoting the participation of the recipients themselves in improving the area with an integrated, multidisciplinary professional intervention through coordination of several Councillors and seek the active participation of all sectors of the district to resolve problems that may arise on coexistence, economic development, environment, housing.

The main objective is to increase the chances of social integration of young people in the Barrios Altos and achieve an improvement in their habitat.

Also pursued the organization of an occupational and relationship to promote self esteem and work habits, to increase the participation of different sectors of the population in the affairs of the neighborhood, increase production initiatives among young people of both sexes and to improve neighborhood environmental conditions and health and hygiene.

This social program and to promote employment of the Barrios Altos is financed by the ERDF of the European Union and the city of Lorca, and complements other programs for youth and children of different ages as PAIDOS.

"We've always said that those who suffer most from the crisis are expected to lack of training, so that the government team is making important efforts to strengthen the training offered by the municipality," said Ibarra.

The program has the support of the Youth Council of Lorca, the mayors of district and neighborhood and social groups from the districts.
