Soler Assembly calls on the reinstatement of workers dismissed from the Tourist Consortium "Lorca Taller del Tiempo" (15/02/2010)

The regional deputy, Bartolomé Soler, calls for the reinstatement of workers dismissed from the Tourist Consortium "Lorca Taller del Tiempo."

Soler has presented a motion calling for the Regional Assembly's solidarity with the dismissed employees of the Tourist Consortium 'Lorca Taller del Tiempo, for being an "example of dedication and professionalism in their years of service for local tourism."

Soler said the budgets of the Tourist Consortium "Lorca Taller del Tiempo", an entity that is part of the regional public sector, have been reduced considerably by 2010.

Such a move carries a serious downsizing.

Specifically, seven of his twenty employees are destined to lose their jobs, having done so and four of them, while three others could also do, of not taking appropriate measures, before next summer.

This situation puts the staff in thirteen workers, nearly fifty with which the Consortium had when he began his career more than a decade.

The cut is affecting, among others, the areas of management, administration, cleaning, maintenance, entertainment, museum staff, etc ...

Also requests that you allocate the resources required to remedy the situation so that the consortium recovers its activity, presence and impact in the town of Lorca.

A job loss is compounded by the abolition of the resources allocated to new investment and maintenance of the Fortaleza del Sol, which has grown from 300,000 euros in 2009, to run out of budget for this fiscal year.

Soler said: "This new policy will affect the quality of tourism in the city, which will impact very negatively impacting on visitor numbers."

For the Socialist deputy does not seem reasonable that the Ministry of Culture conducive to this situation, when it has been providing very important resource for tourism campaigns, "more than doubtful results, while reducing budget allocations for this consortium."

Moreover, he added that negative figures billing of 2009 compared to the previous financial year and the fall in the number of visitors to Lorca, Murcia and Cartagena respect, set a grim outlook for local tourism, with consequent impact on the hospitality industry and municipal services.

Soler insisted that the situation of unemployment in the town of Lorca and the surrounding area along with the urgent need to diversify its economy, maintaining activity in the tourism sector make it necessary to reorient the decision of dismissal of staff as well as that the consortium recovers its activity.
