Francisco Enrique Ujaldón Jódar and delivered to Step Incarnate restored height of the Virgen de la Soledad (25/02/2010)

Lorca's mayor, Francisco Jodar, next to the Director General of Fine Arts of the Autonomous Region, Enrique Ujaldón, has delivered this morning to Step Incarnate of the restored image of the Blessed Virgin of Solitude.

The art historical report of Fine Arts said that the carving of Our Lady of Solitude is the owner of the Ladies of the Virgen de la Soledad.

It is a beautiful dress size by José Sánchez Lozano (1904-1995) in 1963 (signed and dated on the base execution) following records eighteenth-century aesthetic of the sculpture.

There are obvious debts to the great Francisco Salzillo, also taking into account the enormous task of restoring and revitalizing that he showed the baroque imagery Sánchez Lozano.

An artist who always knew how to extrapolate the artistic tradition of the eighteenth century to the twentieth-century religious art.

Conservation Status.

On these the author did a enlienzado as a basket or skirt.

Due to the movement suffered during the Easter procession and the manipulation that is submitted to be dressed the sculpture had undergone various alterations and pathologies.

The lower end of enlienzado had a previous intervention, it had been in place polyurethane resin holding the edge with the wooden base, this resin placed over all disturbed aesthetically.

The upper body had multiple cracks and ungluing.

The carving is made of common pine, this was too dry.

There were many scratches on the polychromy of the neck and shoulders of the Virgin due to the pins used to dress up the work.

The hands had many scratches and scuffs.

Were abundant in hair loss and even polychrome preparation.

The tabs were badly damaged.

Missing several crystal tears.

Intervention Process:

The process has provided: Analytical and sampling, mechanical cleaning, removal of excess polyurethane coating gap, reintegration chromatic final protection, placement of new tabs and placement of tears missing.
