The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Planning and Housing, promotes a series of actions for improvement, training and the environment surrounding the Fortress of the Sun in Lorca in order to promote the distinctive landscape values this regional site, said today the CEO of Land and Housing, Antonio Navarro.

The regional manager said that "from the Ministry of Public Works are promoted actions aimed at the promotion and preservation of the differentiating and unique regional landscape, as occurs in this area" and said that these actions are part of the revaluation conducted by the Consortium for the Development of Tourism and Cultural de Lorca with funding from the regional government.

Among the actions implemented various works include landscaping and planting pastures, planting native species, the channeling of surface water, pruning and securing of cypresses, and the preparation of informative posters of plant species in the area.

The project also includes training workshops and activities held since the end of this month until early June, to transmit citizenship to cultural and scenic value of the place, within the grants awarded by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning by that Directorate-General, local corporations, nonprofit institutions and consortia Murcia to carry out actions for improvement, awareness and promotion of landscape values in the region.

Moreover, within this line of action, the regional executive supports the drafting of the 'New works to improve and add value to the landscape in Fortaleza del Sol', as well as conducting a botanical survey of the landscape and flora , to report on the values of Mediterranean semi-arid landscape.

"La Fortaleza del Sol, fortifications built between the ninth and fifteenth centuries, is one of the declared monuments of cultural interest more representative of the region, so that the regional government is important to care for their environment and promote its values singurales, as part of the heritage of all Murcia ", said Antonio Navarro.
