The Minister of Agriculture and Water and the Mayor of Lorca inauguiraron new installations of the Health Protection Association of Lorca's Beef cattle, which brings to 180 farming
The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, today visited the construction of the new Center Cleaning and Disinfection of Livestock Transport Vehicles, located in the Paraje Casa La Higuerita of the deputation lorquina Barranco Hondo.
The owner of Agriculture and Water said the new center, which will occupy an area of 8,500 square meters, will be one of the most modern and functional in Spain "and represent" a new complementary tool of preventive medicine "to serve farmers.
According to Cerda, the objective of this center is significantly curb the risk of spread of infection from animals. "
The new facility, with an investment of 270,000 euros, have a computerized system for recording the movements of animals and will serve more than 900 farms of different livestock species in the region of Alto Guadalentín.
In 2009 there were a total of 112,661 movements of animals, of which 54,434 were in the Region of Murcia and the rest outside the Community.
Cerda said that the development of livestock and the emergence of new techniques and national and EU regulations mandatory "make these centers will be retrofitted or implement new ones."
Responsible for Agriculture said that the operation of this center will maintain "good status" of the regional livestock and "to prevent possible transmission of diseases."
In the Region of Murcia there are 40 centers disinfection of vehicles used to transport livestock by road, of which six are public utilities and other private use.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has been working for three years in improving and adapting existing centers, and the counselor said, "soon will expand new centers of public utility", distributed at various strategic points in the Region, as Puerto Lumbreras.
The counselor also noted that the Region of Murcia "has one of the healthiest herds of Spain", which follows from the results obtained in recent years with the implementation of regional warning network, with which it has reduced rates or eliminated diseases such as brucellosis, tuberculosis, swine fever, foot and mouth disease, bluetongue and Aujeszky disease.
Cerda said that livestock accounts for 25 percent of the final agricultural product and recalled that 40 percent of the livestock population is concentrated in Lorca Murcia.
ADS Opens Beef
On the other hand, the Minister of Agriculture and Water today inaugurated the new facilities of Sanitary Defense Association Beef Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, which represents 180 farms, and has two administrative and three veterinarians.
The Murcia Region is now 47 health protection groups, of which three are for beef cattle.
