The Councilor for Development and Infrastructure of the City of Lorca, Ángel Meca, and the General Director of Roads of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Francisco González, visited this morning the stabilization works that have been carried out in the north of access to the Castle.
The first phase of the works for the improvement of access to the Castle of Lorca has been completed by the construction of a wall of retained concrete rock, 30 meters long, which stabilizes the northern area and increases the safety of the road.
The stream has also been channeled in the eastern part of the landslide.
This action is the first of the four phases of the remodeling of the access road to the castle, which includes the connection with the southern area of ​​Lorca.
The works have a regional investment of 1.2 million euros and will allow the expansion of this road to be adapted to the traffic currently supported and the reinforcement of security.
In addition, this new road will improve the conditions of circulation, accessibility and safety to this tourist and cultural area so important for the municipality.
The works continue with the reinforcement of security by consolidating the slopes of the road and the construction of a new road connecting the castle to the southern part of the city of more than 1.3 kilometers in length and 8 meters wide of road.
The last phase of the works will focus, on the one hand, on the conditioning of the existing road to repair the deterioration and, on the other, on the extension of the platform, in order to adapt it to the level of traffic that currently supports .
There will also be a new asphalting of the current access road to the castle and the improvement of the signage and drainage of this road.
