Improvements in Los Angeles and Apolonia
One of the main improvements of the integral renovation of Los Angeles and Apolonia is the pedestrianization of most of the interior horizontal roads, to facilitate mobility and the displacements on foot through the neighborhoods.
Its main advantage is the connection of this urban area with the University Campus of Lorca and the Integrated Vocational Training Center.
For this, three pedestrian ramps and a staircase have been built, which facilitate the mobility of the neighbors between the two neighborhoods and the access of the students to the university center.
In this way, the passage between Los Angeles Avenue and Joaquin Casalduero Street has been facilitated, through the existing alley and the Isabel María Jiménez García road, and also to the Los Ángeles Park, by means of a pedestrian promenade.
In addition, road traffic in the neighborhoods has been improved with the construction of a two-lane roundabout at the confluence of the Medical Antonio Pelegrín Medina, Campuzano and Navarra streets with the avenue of the Armed Forces, to improve access to the university campus and the turns of the vehicles.
Likewise, the urban drainage and rainwater collection and evacuation network have been renewed with three new collectors and a network of scuppers and grilles.
In addition, sanitation, drinking water supply, electricity, gas and communications networks have been replaced, as well as street furniture and road pavement.
Likewise, the public lighting network has been remodeled with 201 new luminaires with LED technology and equipped with remote management to improve lighting efficiency, manage lighting and intensity regulation, program maintenance and receive alarms.
The luminaries have been installed in the neighborhoods as well as in the Avenue Armed Forces and Ortega Melgares Street.
In addition, special attention has been given to the parks of the University and the Los Angeles neighborhood, and a new green area has been added on Doctor Fleming Street with Transformador Street.
