The Councilor for Public Safety of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez Martínez, has announced the arrest on Wednesday June 27 of a person for a crime against public health and a crime of resistance, disobedience and attack against an agent of the authority.
The events took place around 9.30 pm on Calle Ortega y Melgares.
The agents of the UPROL Unit, in plainclothes, were conducting surveillance in the area when they observed an individual who, recognizing and being aware of the police presence, showed great nervousness and quickly entered a public establishment, specifically a tearoom.
Given the suspicious attitude of the individual, one of the agents followed him until he reached him next to the toilets.
After identifying himself as an agent, the individual extracted from his pocket numerous hashish postures and tried to get rid of them by introducing them into the toilet and activating the cistern.
At the same time, he assaulted the agent with kicks and punches to try to avoid arrest.
Finally, the subject was reduced and arrested, in the case of a man of Moroccan nationality of 35 years of age who has numerous criminal records.
They were intervened 29 hashish postures, with a total weight of 126'73 grams.
The mayor pointed out that "we have to congratulate the participating agents for this successful operation that has allowed to remove from the circulation an important quantity of narcotic substances destined for consumption, with the consequent damage to public health that they would have caused. plus the importance of developing a constant preventive and operational work at street level through the different units in which the Local Police is organized, allowing them to be present in neighborhoods and districts to meet the needs of the population and discover who they intend to commit a crime in a continuous manner ".
