The Plaza de Calderón de la Barca will host on Thursday, July 5 at 10 pm the screening of the documentary "Guadalentín Sports Games: 40 years of enthusiasm and effort", made exprofeso to commemorate the four decades of the Olympics Lorca.
It will be the first installment of the "Cinema and Sports" series that will take movies related to physical activity to the Plaza de Calderón during 3 consecutive Thursdays as part of the cultural program launched to celebrate the sports anniversary.
After the opening of the anthological exhibition in the Huerto Ruano, which can be seen until next Friday, July 13, the cycle "Cinema and Sports" will be inaugurated with this ambitious documentary of almost one hour, directed by the prestigious Lorca producer Bernardo Hernandez
Filmed during the last months, the documentary makes a tour through these four decades of sport in Lorca giving the voice to the protagonists.
Founders of the Games, councilors, technical directors and athletes take stock of the course of the Lorca Olympics, its humble origins, progress and improvements, sharing anecdotes and secrets.
Historical and current images, photographs and many other ingredients are part of this documentary that will please both sports fans and those who are not.
The film series will have its second session on Thursday, July 12, also at 10 pm at the Plaza de Calderón, with a lively night of short films.
Specifically, 5 films will be screened, all of them related to sport: "Agora", "Nadadora", "Real men do not cry" (winner of the I CREASPORT in the short film category), "Mi-temps" and "El hombre from the center street ".
The cycle will have its third session on Thursday, July 19 with the screening of the film "McFarland USA", directed by Niki Caro and with Kevin Costner and Maria Bello as protagonists.
The film tells the true story of an athletic team made up of students who try to excel and prosper in the hands of their coach.
Concerning the anticipated Cycle of Conferences, it has finally been decided to move it to the month of September to coincide with the celebration of the Sports Games of the Guadalentín XL, enriching the sports offer with this cycle of cultural character.
