The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has informed that the second phase of the project of the Santa Quiteria fairground will be accelerated definitively to reach the marked goal, that is, that the fairs and exhibitions included within the usual annual schedule of our city can be celebrated already in this new infrastructure.
In fact, the large exhibition hall is ready and can begin to provide immediate service.
We are talking about a large infrastructure that covers an area of ​​4,661 m2, and that will enable the development of Fericab, Feria del caballo cruzado, Feramur and Sepor.
The First Edil explained that for the development of these fairs to continue to improve, we are currently working to also enable the first module of the second phase of the works, which, among other issues, will offer the entry into operation of a new conference room , and services attached.
The Mayor has indicated that the execution of the works of this second phase will combine the City's own media with batch awards, with the dual objective of accelerating the development of works and maximizing the participation and participation of local SMEs.
The first step that has been foreseen within the calendar of works for this second phase is the realization with own means of the first tasks of masonry.
In general, it is a matter of proceeding to build the internal partition that will allow the ordering of the spaces of the main access building, as well as the placement of floors and other tasks.

Fulgencio Gil has stated that the reconstruction of the Fairground is one of the priority and strategic actions of this municipality, a project that responds to the social demand of the entire municipality by having a modern infrastructure, functional and comfortable, allowing the groups social, economic and business areas of the city have a multipurpose space and guarantees.
It is a Fair and Congress Center that puts Lorca at the forefront, and reinforces our role as subregional capital and head of the county.

The project includes the complete definition of the interior fittings, facilities and equipment of the projected buildings, surfaces, raised floors, etc., so that the functionality of them and their integration in the urban space of the city can be clearly appreciated.
The new Fairs and Congresses of Lorcase site builds on the land where the demolished Santa Quiteria fairground was located. The first phase of the project contemplated the demolition of the old fairgrounds, the disassembly of the old exterior cover for later installation in the Orchard of the Wheel, and the realization of a wide excavation of 4 meters of depth to establish the foundation of the new constructions.
The works also include the preparation of all medium voltage installations, telephony, drinking water supply and sanitation that served within the scope of execution of the work.
In addition, they include the realization of the foundations, structure, enclosures and waterproofing works for this new sociocultural equipment, which will include an auditorium (whose final equipment is executed in this second phase).
Once all the phases of construction to complete this new equipment have been completed, the exhibiting capacity of the Fair Center will have been increased, which will go from the 5,010 m2 that the previous one had to 8,600 m2 (including an area that could be subdivided to hold meetings or install fairs and another specific for exhibitions).
