The Local Development Councilor of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, has visited this morning the improvements that beneficiaries of employment and training programs launched by the Lorca Consistory are doing in terms of gardening San Jose Park.
Sandra Martinez said that "it is the change of the roses located in the park beds that were sick, replacing them with flowerpots with other types of plants." The improvements are being executed by the Local Development Council thanks to the participation of 24 students and 5 monitors belonging to the program "Ágora", gardening specialty, and "Young Employment Lorca", subsidized by the European Social Fund, which are being trained in the specialty of locks and painting.The action has an investment of 3,600 euros.
The Local Development Councilor explained that "the action in these parterres consists of placing 19 planters distributed throughout the park, of which 13 were in the collection of the municipal warehouse and have been repaired for placement and the other 6 have been manufactured in the municipal workshops of locksmithing.Also is proceeding to renew part of the existing irrigation system, thus improving the distribution of water and giving greater effectiveness to watering the garden.
Martinez added that "in addition, we are proceeding to the planting of new plant species, among which are decorative ball bushes, ground cover plants and overflowing plants in pots." It should be noted that all the plants are being supplied by the municipal nurseries In regard to gardening, pruning of shrubs and vegetal plants is also being carried out, remodeling and cleaning the weeds of the zones of existing shrubs ".
The Local Development Edil, finally, stressed that "the objective of these programs is that these people are trained and learn a trade while performing tasks aimed at improving the neighborhoods, districts, watercourses, parks and gardens of the municipality. a new support for Lorca to continue reducing unemployment figures faster than the regional and national average, with a decrease in unemployment of more than 3,000 people in the last four years, which places us in the best employment figures since the beginning of 2009 ".
