IU demands to reinforce the staff of the Padrón office in Lorca (13/07/2018)

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martin, has denounced that the transfer of the Padrón office from Selgas Street to its current location in the Villaescusa palace "has only served to change the problem of overcrowding from one place to another" .

"The only difference is that instead of queuing on the street, citizens now wait in the garage of the building," he explained.

The mayor of IU-Greens regretted that the operation of the service is proper "of the last century", without prior appointment, or the possibility of obtaining it through the internet.

From seven o'clock in the morning there are people waiting to get some numbers that are exhausted after just one hour, with the consequent "come back another day".

Lack of staff is another problem that affects this service.

"Apart from the fact that the seats are especially uncomfortable, most of the people waiting to be served are forced to stand in the garage, which we understand does not adequately guarantee their safety either," Martín said.

According to the councilor of IU, "the statistics staff that serves citizens is overflowed, serving an average of 170 requests each day and the vacations of service workers are not covered, so that in summer period the situation becomes even more unsustainable. "

Therefore, he demanded the immediate reinforcement of the staff.

The councilor of Izquierda Unida also denounced that the electronic self-service terminal with which, in theory, the registration form can be obtained and perform other administrative procedures "does not work".

Martín also stressed that the address of the Padrón office has not been updated on the municipal website, since the previous location of Casa Alburquerque is still shown.

For Martin, in general, the City Council has significant shortcomings in order to facilitate the electronic relationship of citizens with the municipal administration, and avoid unnecessary travel and loss of valuable time, especially for those who have work obligations to fulfill.
