The Community will invest another 2 million to improve and expand the drainage system of two regional roads that cross the ravine
The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure has awarded the construction of a new bridge on the RM-D8 highway, which crosses the Rambla de Biznaga de Lorca, for an amount of 1.2 million euros, as published yesterday in the Bulletin Official of the Region of Murcia (BORM).
"The objective of the regional government is to increase the drainage capacity of the ravine and avoid damage that may be caused by possible floods," said the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde.
It is, he added, an "important work" because "notably improves the communication of the municipality, the access and safety of drivers and above all avoids that, before the periodic heavy rains and floods of water along the ravine, the road and the vehicles are dragged by the current ".
This infrastructure will prevent the cutting of the road when there are heavy rains and floods of water along the Rambla de Biznaga, which collects waters from other nearby channels such as Torrecilla, Béjar and part of Nogalte, which can put at risk that the vehicles are dragged by the current of the ravine.
The new bridge will have a length of 110 meters in length and a width of 10 meters, with a road of two lanes, each of them of 3.2 meters, to which are added verges of 1.3 meters.
Also the BORM published this Saturday the contract for the control, surveillance, safety and health services of these works, with a contribution from the Autonomous Community of 54,450 euros.
This action will be completed with the improvement and expansion of the drainage system of roads RM-11 (Lorca-Águilas) and RM-621 (Lorca-Purias), which cross the Rambla de Biznaga, which will involve an investment of two million euros .
