"The 86 interior cleaners suffer salary discrimination of 17% (€ 2,894 per year) lower than their street cleaning partners," says Councilman Antonio Meca.
Lorca, Tuesday, July 17.
Ciudadanos Lorca will present in the next plenary session of this month of July a motion that aims to equalize the salary of the cleaning workers of buildings and premises and the controllers of the ORA of the company Limusa.
According to Antonio Meca "the cleaning sector is very feminized and has been one of the most punished by the crisis, with salary declines, cuts in working hours, dismissals, eventuality and job insecurity".
In cleaning agreements for buildings and premises, the category of cleaner (the vast majority are women) charges less than the least paid for other services.
Other inequalities with their peers are among others:
the payment of school fees for their children.
School transportation.
Help for children with disabilities.
Glasses and dental prostheses.
The Councilman explains that in countless cities such as Asturias, Badajoz, Asturias, Murcia, Cadiz, Melilla, Irun, Santiago de Compostela or Benidorm "have carried out strikes in the sector of cleaning buildings to get a living wage, recover cuts salaries, less workload, etc. "
This motion proposal for the 90 cleaners (86 female cleaners, 4 male managers) and the 10 controllers of the ORA, would imply an approximate cost of 403,065, 80 €, social expenses included.
"The pawn of waste collection is the one we have taken as a reference to be able to calculate the increases in salaries and supplements to cleaning and controllers of the ORA," concludes the Councilman.
